Michal Stanko was born in 1901 in Sosnowiec. He was a painter, known well for the Tatra landscape. During World War I, he fought in the Legions. In 1930, Stanko settled in Zakopane, where, he collaborated with Janusz Kotarbinski on the polychrome in the parish church in Zakopane.
